A) There is chicken on the table.

(「肉、料理」の意味では、不可算名詞、つまり数えられない名詞。aが付くと「（動物の）ニワトリ」。テーブルの上に一羽の鶏がいますの意味になります)

There is  a chicken on the table.　←生きている鶏。
