Pay for something: give money for something
支払う：お金を払う

George: Did you buy that book on Amazon?
ジョージ：アマゾンであの本を買ったのですか？

Sam: Yeah I had to pay for it by credit card.
サム：はい、クレジットカードで支払わないといけなかったんです。

Be back: be again in a place you were before
戻る：もといた場所にまた戻る

Graham: What are you going to do for vacation?
グラハム：休暇中に何をするつもりですか？

Sam: I’m going back to my hometown.
サム：地元に戻るつもりです。

Get on (something): enter (an elevator, a plane, a train, a bus, or a ship)
何かに乗り込む：エレベーター、飛行機、電車、バス、船に乗る

John: Sorry, but I have to leave now to get on the last train.
ジョン：ごめんなさい、最終電車に乗るために行かないといけない。

Sam: No problem, I’ll send you an email.
サム：大丈夫だよ、メールを送るよ。

John: Okay see you next time.
ジョン：オーケー、また次回会おう。

turn something off: stop a machine or the flow of water, electricity, etc.
電気、ガス、水道などが止まる

George: Did you turn off the water?
ジョージ：水を止めましたか？

Sam: Yeah, the faucet is off.
サム：はい、蛇口を閉めました。

Get over something: recover from an illness
回復する、克服する

John: How have you been?
ジョン：元気にしてるの？

Susan: I’m doing a little better now. I’m still trying to get over this illness.
スーザン：今は少し良くなっているわ。病気から回復しようとしているの。

turn over: turn to the other side
ひっくり返す

Jim: Turn  over pages one by one and find out the article.
ジム：1ページごとにめくって、その記事を見つけてくれ。。

Sam: Sure, no problem.
サム：分かった

run away: leave quickly; escape
逃げる：急いで離れる

Tim: Let’s play tag!
ティム：鬼ごっこしよう！

Sarah: Okay! I’m going to run away.
サラ：いいわよ。私は逃げるわ

Pick something up: take or lift something off the floor (or a chair, etc)
手に取る：床やいすなどから物を持ち上げる

Sam: Can I pick up that guitar and play something?
サム：ギターもって何か弾いても良いかな？

Yuri: You know how to play guitar? Wow…okay! Go for it.
ユリ：ギターの弾き方分かるの？わぁ、良いわよ。やってみて

Get rid of something: remove something
取り除く、処分する

Husband: Yes?
夫：何だい？

Wife: Can you get rid of this trash?
妻：このごみを処分してくれない？

Husband: Sure, I’ll take care of it.
夫：いいよ、片づけておくよ。

Go back (to a place): return to a place
場所に戻る

Noriko: Want to go to the movies this weekend?
ノリコ：今週末映画に行かない？

Sam: Thanks, but I’m going back to my hometown. Perhaps next weekend?
サム：ありがとう、でも地元に帰るつもりなんだ。来週だったらどう？

Noriko: Sure, sounds good.
ノリコ：うん、いいわね。
